If you live in North East Essex and need fertility treatment, you should be aware that your local commissioners are considering cutting IVF funding altogether – apparently because they have concluded that it “does not provide sufficient benefit to the overall health economy”…
Cost-cutting proposals
The plans to cut IVF funding are part of a range of cost-cutting measures by North East Essex Clinical Commissioning Group aimed at saving £22 million pounds – although no longer providing IVF is a drop in the ocean which may not prove to be cost-effective anyway.
If you live anywhere near Colchester and would like to have your say, you may want to go along to the CCG meeting today (May 26) at 2.30pm at the Colchester Primary Care Centre in Turner Road which is open to the public and where you will be able to ask questions. You can find out more here
Appalling. Is there a campaign group or a petition that you know of, Kate? Any way we can help?
Thanks Dee – I don’t know of a petition specifically for North East Essex, but anyone can contact the CCG and tell them what they think. You can write to them at Colchester Primary Care Centre, Turner Road, Colchester Essex CO4 5JR and there is an email address too – neeccg.enquiries@nhs.net. You can even just send them a message via their website here http://www.neessexccg.nhs.uk/Contact%20Us.html
I have set up a petition for north east Essex but it’s not going well..
Sorry to hear that Emma – do you want to post details? Kate
