A sad story from Poland where the country’s Catholic bishops have condemned a new law which would allow funding from the state for IVF. It’s a terrible shame that the legislation, which is favoured by a majority of the population, should be received so badly by Church leaders who have led a long campaign to stop the proposals becoming law.
The new law was signed on Wednesday in one of outgoing President Komorowski’s final acts in his role as he had been deafeated in elections earlier this year. A conservative Catholic, Andrzej Duda, will take over as President.
You can read more about this here – but in the meantime, although the Bishops may think this is wrong, it’s a huge step forward for anyone who is trying unsuccessfully to conceive In Poland.
